Georges Patrick Gaspard

Visual Artist and Writer, born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is partly self taught artist. He showed interest in drawing, design and fine arts at an early age. He first studied architecture but eventually decided to focus exclusively on his art and he enrolled at the Ecole Nationale des Arts (ENARTS). His interest soon gravitated towards ritual African masks and the wide variety of cultures and styles they represent. His favorite media are the palm frond and the seed pod from the Royal Palm tree.
My interests lie in traditional African Art, as well as in ancient African civilizations. Not merely interested in the intellectual aspect of my research, I believe that a collective memory binds us all, and that a people aware of its roots and distant past is on the way to recover the confidence destroyed by centuries of forced migration.
